Re: FOR SALE : Another 1904 Ariel
Respect for this restorer but again bad research.
It's a 1903 Ariel 270cc engine 2 1/4 HP in a short frame as it should but it's a surface carburettor engine so the tank is totaly wrong.
They used a photo of the 3.5 HP longframe tank to create the short one.
The real 1903 surface tank is very complicated.
The frontforks are altered bicycle, the frame a total repro but not bad.
The carburettor is a 1904 model but i think repro.

Very good Rein.
It was sold togetter with the original 2 3/4 HP 1904 both where from Mr. Reed of Hull.
Like the Atlantic Ariel, been there seen it.

Re: FOR SALE : Another 1904 Ariel
It was on this site before, the tubes have a corck in the middle to divide the brass powder so if you put the frame in the fire not all powder is going to one side.
The tube is 0.6 mm wall exept for the curved one there are two tubes inside.
There is moisture collecting at these corcks thus rotting the tubes so it's wise to RETUBE all pre 1910 Ariels, tricycles included.
If you do that stick to the original shape and lengd otherwise you're making a mongril.
There are lots of retubed pre 1910 motorcycles, Sammy Miller museum included.
The Velocette Roarer has a whole new inside becouse that was binned at the end of the factory, still there are lots of buyers for it.
