it was relatively easy to disassemble. I found that the previous owner neglected the quality of the work and also used very damaged valve guides. some of them were broken off maybe half an inch but I only found out when I removed the valve spring :(

I had the engine head sanded today and checked for errors. it looks good. On Monday, we will bring it to the alignment of the seating surfaces. I cleaned the moving parts and except for the two valve guides, everything is fine.

forgive me my English. I don't know a word, I use a translator :D :D :D

the upper aluminum head box has many flaws. Fortunately, I have one spare. Repairing damaged parts would take me a long time. I'll put it off until later, for another engine.

Have you ever used the original guides and valves back into the engine being repaired? I have enough of them and they seem to be good.

Before you refit the rocker box, check that the threads in the cylinder head are good for the 4 studs which hold the rocker box lid on. I missed this when fitting a replacement head on my OHC four and suffered an incurable oil leak as a result. Incurable, that is, unless I took the valve guides out again which is not something you want to do.

Originaly the head bolts press on the aluminium rockerbox, that is not good, here they are making steel inserts with a viton O washer so the headbolt is pressing on the head and sealing on the rocker box.
I can understand that it dus not feel good to make the rockerbox holes bigger but this is needed to make a good cammy.

thanks for the info, i'll have to check it all out. I hope that my head will return straight tomorrow and I will be able to continue the repair

The engine head is ground on both sides. now there will be less risk of oil leakage and damage to the Head Gasket

the seating surfaces must fit evenly at all points. tomorrow we will prepare the head for painting :arrow:
