John I think the brake rod may foul the axle when the rear spring unit is fully loaded. (Compressed) There has been info on this matter and the length on previous posts.
Ariel brakes with the cast drums and the adjustable fulcrum do work quite well with the right lining material and shape. The trailing shoe should have a softer lining or it won't wear evenly with the leading one. IF you swap them over they work well for a while then back to normal, ordinary. Nev
