mudguard stay

Hi,
I am rebuilding 1956 red hunter , can you tell me please if there is a spacer that goes in-between the back mudguard stay the one that the rear top s shocks
bolts goes throw into the mudguard stay, there is about 1/4 inche gap

There should be a nut and washer holding the shock in place with annother nut and washer holding the mudguard in place, the first nut then acts like a spacer, hope this makes sense

There is no spacer or nut between the frame and stay check your frame against the seat.
At the rear of the frame, no spacers between frame and mudguard, that would mesure the frame.
