Hi everybody, after years of talking about it my brother and I have decided to start restoring our grandfathers red hunter. The Bike has lived in a shed for the last 40+ years and is going to need a lot of work. I have spent a fair bit of time lately online searching for information and have found Draginfly in the U.K.
Can anybody recommend places here in Australia or in England that that is a good source of information or parts that may help.

That looks like a nice 1939 VH, with 1949 front end, the speedo will cost you the first 1000+ pounds and the good front end an other 2000+.
I would keep (ride) it as is becouse your grandfathers soul is in there.

And a nice Wolseley (6 cilinder?) car.

Well spotted!, yeas there’s a couple of 6 cylinder Wolseleys in that shed also. My grandfather liked his English cars.

We have found the speedo, although the face is in pretty rough shape. Not sure it’s savable. Also found the toolbox and passenger pegs. I’ve sent the engine and frame numbers to Draginfly to hopefully find out some more details

If its a 39 its a rare one with Anstey link rear end. I'd agree with Adrie - tidy it up and ride it.
Post up the frame and engine number prefixes.

Forgot to say - the AOMCC has an excellent spares scheme - Pete Kemp is Single Spares. I'd advise joining the club.

As suggested join the club so you can access the wealth of information on the website in the members area (parts books, owners manuals, technical info) and access to the spares part scheme.

Spend a bit of time reading through some of the old posts on the forum, do a search for VH and there are over 400 pages of topics !! Loads of good info. Any specific questions then do a search first.... the topic has probably been dealt with before.

Looks like the edge of a Queensland rego plate.........and for Oz ,thats an easy restoration ,because a difficult resto here is someone searching the swaps and ebay for all the bits for a stripped frame.And there are those doing just that.

Id be thinking its more likely a post war bike ....the big years for Ariel singles here were 47-53 or so......after 52 nearly everyone bought cars when post war controls were lifted.
