Re: Mk11 distributor duplex drive gear
Keith, assuming you mean the 12 tooth gear (the one drags lists as 220609) on the bottom of the distributor then it’s worth checking car autojumbles as the DK4 type distributor was fitted to several cars, like some Austins. It’s highly likely that Lucas used this gear on other distributors. Unless someone knows for sure it was only on a square four mark 2?

Re: Mk11 distributor duplex drive gear
Hello Keith, my Mark 3 is just a square four engine in an Ariel swinging arm frame that was a home build. I believe that Ariel did have a prototype mark 3 square four that had swinging arm front suspension, and the mark 4 would have been been telescopic front and swinging arm back.keith wainwright wrote:Paul wher did you find the that Mk111 I think Ariels only made 2?

Quick update is that I’m now running it with a concentric carb while I refurbish the Solex (again) and have fitted a kill switch in case the carb slide sticks open. I’ve also fitted a tacho, but more of that later. I took it for a spin yesterday, and it was running fine, no more snagging tasks. I got home too late to take pictures, and today storm Ciara is blowing through, so I’m bunkered down in the shed.
I can post some new pics next weekend when I plan a longer ride. Being in full time work is limiting for many things.

Hi Keith, the gears vary according to whether you have simplex or duplex timing chain.
