sq4 oil pipes

Please could I have some advice on the oil feed and return pipes on a 53 mk2 sq4.Before starting the engine after a rebuild,The two pipes to the oil pump is the inner pipe the feed and the outer the return ?????/ The bike has been off the road since 1997 when a conrod snapped at the small end when my Dad Mike was out riding.The engine was rebuilt but never finished.Now some 15yrs later it time to get the old girl running again.

The feed pipe from the banjo at the bottom of the oil tank goes to the downward pointing inner engine pipe.
