Getting off topic a little but I once did a dating certificate for a bitsa where the engine came from the UK and the frame came from Denmark. To the owner's astonishment - and mine when he told me where he had got the bits - the engine and frame matched each other.

Thank you Roger and Paul. Great info. And I must apologize to Paul Slootheer for hijacking his thread! This is fun to learn the history behind these bikes. Does anyone know more about the Netherlands Relief? I know they had a couple of very hungry years.

there you go :

https://www.archivesportaleurope.net/ea ... d/2.06.069

This archive is several meters long, one day....one day I go there and have a look :)
The late Ralph Hawkins once totted up all Netherlands Relief bikes and came to a plusminus total of 400 bikes.
I am 'in the process' of listing them but atm I am at bike 57...

Found a Pdf on the net (in Dutch) and read that the original lenght of the archive was 26 meters! after a 'cleaning up' it is now 7.5 meters

found this in the archive : Stukken betreffende het kopen van 4 ton Turkse opium,
1943-1945
translated it reads : Papers concerning the aquisition of 4 tonne Turkish Opium.

Yep, what i'd like to know is did our Prince of Holland Bernard von Lippe Biesterfeld smoked that all ?

Made some small progress... Wheels are ready, and I'am waiting now for the tyres. Last week I received the exhaust pipe from the UK after nearly two months waiting not knowing where the parts did hang out! I was able follow the parts untill it did leave the UK but then they disappeared into the ''customs swamp'' somewhere in a warehouse in the Netherlands. At one point I realy did fear the parts where lost, luckily they showed up after sending two letters to customs. ''Sorry sir, Brexit you know..."

With one metal cap missing on top of the headlamp shroud, I dicided to make one myself. I did some metal casting with the use of a print I made from the original cap into “brussels earth” and then poured melted Zamak into it.
