Hi, all.
I have an all iron 1938 VH engine fitted with a twin lobe cam. I also have a good single lobe cam and followers. Will they fit straight in, or will I have to change the push rods?

The pushrods are longer for a single lobe cam.

If your twin lobe cam is an F cam or an A6/664, then Dave is right. If, however, your twin lobe cam is an A7/642 then the pushrods will be the same length as for a single lobe cam.

F cam and 664 have a 1 1/2 inch base circle, 642 has 1 inch same as single lobe cam

Thanks for the answers, folks. Sadly I did not note which cam is in my engine and understand it was the standard cam for the machine. So I will have to remove the timing case to find out. I therefore assume that the same pushrods are used for the same cam whether the head is alloy or iron.

Same length but different metal, otherwise it will rattle a lot or stop!
