Interesting you are using resistor plugs. Reckon I should change?paul.jameson wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 8:34 pm Knowing your engine Rob, and knowing that it now smokes a little, I would go straight to WR9BC or WR9AC.

Re: Ariel square 4 misfire
As a long time rebuilder of magnetos. I've always been of the opinion that resistor (Carbon) Leads and "R" plugs are not advised as the higher resistance will promote arcing/shorting of the secondary HT winding as it can if a plug lead comes off which can be instant death to a magneto with no "safety Gap". My 1936 4G and Rob's 1948 4G have now both been converted to electronic ignition, hence the resistor plugs. As Nev says, you should never have any form of suppression when using a magneto.

Re: Ariel square 4 misfire
Question applies only to my coil ignition Mk1; no resistors on the magneto equipped bikes...simon.holyfield wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 10:46 pmInteresting you are using resistor plugs.
