ISDT Ariels

Folks,

I'm currently indulging a fantasy of exploring some green lanes next year, maybe using the W/NG. Fantasy, because green lanes are few and far between here in Norfolk.

This line of thought made me realise that I don't know much about Ariel's ISDT bikes. Where's the best place to read up on them?

Nowhere really and everywhere. There are bits and bobs of info all over the place but this site is devoted to ISDT and has lots of general info.speedtracktales.com a real rabbit hole.
For as long as I have been riding I have wanted to do some green lanes and never have apart from the odd bit on an LDR or on my way to rallies. If you fancy company, I am up for it. Are you aware of this https://maps.norfolk.gov.uk/highways/#

Company? Definitely, sounds like we could keep each other out of trouble!

What got me thinking Roger was the fact that the Norfolk maps site lists council maintained unsurfaced roads, mostly in West Norfolk, which appear to be rights of way.

Since they are shown separately, they don't appear to be BOATs or RUPPs.

I am not sure of the different descriptions but take the view that if it doesn't say we can't ride down a particular then we can. If someone shouts, I would apologise and plead ignorance.

If you join an organisation called GLASS, which is the green laning association, they can advise you on legalities.

There used to be an app called ViewRanger which mapped green lanes, but it appears to have been switched off.

I have looked at that page before, whilst searching for gravel cycling adventure (err, what we used to call cycling off road).

Lots of bits, but they don't 'go anywhere'.

Sure, you could join up a route with the smaller bits, to make 1 large bit.

Here is some kind of contribution about ISDT, well not quite but it proves that Arielists can cope with gravel and are not shocked when the pavement turns white. A group of 7 brave Arielists ..... Well Roger, you can tell the story
