That would have been a challenging trip in 1939. Probably couldn't have gone north of Lake Superior back then so they probably traveled through the US. Even now it is a long journey - I've done it several times but not by motorbike.

True, in those days it would have been south to the Dakotas then a long trek around the Great Lakes. I too have been across by car, hitchhiking and twice on motorcycle. What adventures those were but those days are long past.
