Re: 1928 Ariel Wheels or Hubs
You can make a rigid rear wheel fit, say mid late 30s. You'll have to cut a slot in the brakeplate for the anchor, and faff about with mudguard stays to clear the now-in-the-way brake arm, but it is possible and once painted black its not obvious. The later brake will be far better than the 28 brake - the earlier hubs are quite lightweight and easy to distort - something to consider if building a wheel.

Hi Tony,
Thanks for your reply, I have a pair of 38 wheels I could use., but I didn’t really want to modify them. I might have to,I’m finding 28 wheels are very difficult to locate. Especially here in Australia. Do you or anyone in the club know how many Ariels were shipped to my country in 1928 ?

I could count them but I don't have the time! If we ever manage to digitise the despatch books these are questions we could answer. Draganfly have some early wheels left over from the Reg Saunders collection, worth asking. If the hub is cut out from the rims they would be probably be cheaper to post, although the rims are good so it would be a shame.
