Graham Horne Square Fours

Post by allan.walker »

Could anyone please tell me if Graham Horne ever converted a standard, single downtube-type Square Four frame to swinging arm rear suspension? I know he modified s/a (or prf if you prefer) frames to accept Square Four engines and gearboxes, but did he ever fit a s/a rear subframe etc. to the front cradle of a standard Square Four frame?
A friend has been offered a Square Four with a single downtube, s/a rear frame and the owner has made certain claims about it......

Thanks!

I have never heard of such a conversion by Graham, doesn't mean to say that he didn't. Dave Pitt is the man most likely to know as 'our man in the Midlands'

Thanks for the replies, gentlemen. It turns out that the bike in question has a twin downtube frame and the owner had Graham Horne build it for him.
Mystery solved!

Is there a way to identify a Graham Horne square four frame? Did he put his mark on them?
Square 4 mk1, Square 4 mk2, BSA C12.
