Hi
I am finally getting around to preparing to fit the correct steel chaincase covers to my 1944 w/ng. Looking at the parts book, I am puzzled by part number 5705-43 - Plate, chaincase behind clutch. It looks like it takes machine screws that pass through the dome/chaincase/gasket. Is this correct, in which case 5705-43 must have the thread?
In which case I need to find a 5705-43! Any one got a spare?

Re: Steel chaincase cover/plate chaincase behind clutch
Oops, I see I have asked this question before.....
The answer is I need to find part 5705-43, or get some clever chap to make me one. Does anyone have any dimensions per chance?
Thanks
Steve W

It's made of pretty THIN TIN... er steel. I've only ever seen one in OZ, The one I got someone I knew in France to buy from Belgium many years ago. It's on a bike and sold I think you'd have to press it. Sorry I can't provide better news. Nev

Re: Steel chaincase cover/plate chaincase behind clutch
Hi Steve, what I have.....only the rim.
like all Ariel clutch dome things it's a oval shape
pretty hard to get remade . see those welded in small nuts
I have another one that is only slightly better, it also has the flat part cut out but not all the way like this one.
the hole for the mainshaft is also oval (edit: sorry it's round ) and has a trumpet shaped rim for keeping the oil in the case.
the other plate I have.
this is how it should look (not mine) :
