Other than two of your criteria, "good" and "complete", I would have been able to help

A generous soul gave me this oil pump when I was getting ready for the Cannonball, but I ran out of time to refurbish it like I had done with the one in the bike. As can be seen, the spare shaft is, well, complete, but it's not good. I can rotate the shaft in the oil pump housing, but can't move it back or forth, so it's not good either, whether or not it's complete.

Wouldn't be too hard to make it from scratch. Nev

Hello Charles and Nev,
Yes, asking for a good part after 95 years is perhaps a bit over the top.
Making one (ehhh, get one made :D ) would certainly be a option, but I would need measurements.
On the other hand, measuring a original pump taking any wear in account should be doable.
The pump I have is missing the spring and I think there should be a small steel disc in it acting as a flapper valve ?
I asked Roger if the club would have a drawing in stock but I think I already know the answer :)
Just looked in your book and now I know there should be a second small spring with a steel disc in it.

These parts I have.

Filing marks on the pointed part from the bottom stop, why was that done ??
I guess this point fixes this small spring to prevent it going sideways.
Apart from missing this small spring + disc I also dont have the main spring, pretty vital parts ..

Hi Andy, yes, I asked Karol but he did not have any '28 oil pump parts anymore.
Thanks for your offer ! but first thing for me to do is to find someone who can and is willing to make one.
I could try to do it myself but I fear this will lead to wasting material :D

if you have the springs, it would be good to have those dimensions.

Sorry the club doesn't have any drawings of the parts except the mounting screw! I do have a complete pump for a project so i could draw any parts you need, may take a week or so as I am building my engine ready for CZ rally.

These are the sketches I based mine on and used to have the primary parts made. Vincent helped me with the plunger spring and we’ve emailed about making some more pumps but I’ve struggled to find a suitable machinist to help. The chap who made mine wont make anymore as it was too fiddly and time consuming. A friend has agreed to making some but alas has 6 months of work to clear first.
Sorry again Vincent!!

Michael.

I'm very pleased to see my sketches were put to good use by someone. The results look beautiful. Thanks for posting that.
