Dual seat

Post by Paul Slootheer »

Who can tell if the dual seat was an option for the pre swingarm single cilinder models?

A quick look at my copy of the 1953 parts list does list dual seats but from
memory the sales literature only shows saddles.

The dual seat has -53 number so in theory was new for the 1953 model year. I haven't seen any mention of dual seats in sales literature or parts books before 1953. Looking through the Despatch Books, I have found a very small number of 1952 model year VHA models with dual seats but no VH models, although I didn't go through the whole book so it is just about possible that there may have been one or two. We have photos of the inside of the factory taken in 1953 which show lots of bikes fitted with dual seats.

Also note my July 1952 KHA was originally fitted with a dual seat.
