Hello w/ng people,
I have acquired a vokes air filter for by bike, trouble is I can't see how the connection to the carb can work (without possibly spacing the oil tank off the frame). Has anyone got experience of doing this please?
I have seen a few photographs of w/ng's with these fitted, and also have a diagram from a relevant manual, so it must be possible.
Cheers
Steve W

Re: Vokes air filter fitting
Hello Steve,
The Amal has a threaded adapter ring smooth on the outside.
Smooth part fits in a two halves elbow piece, and then a short tube that fits in a short metal flexible tube.
maybe pictures below show ?
The elbows are the same across all WD models only the lenght of the tube varies (as far as I am aware...)
Repro elbow are made in the Netherlands (elbow piece + flex tube) ask about this on the WD forum (BSA M20 forum)

Re: Vokes air filter fitting
Fitting the filter like that was would have to affect the jetting of the carburetter but I can't recall anything on it. From what Ive seen of remnants the Vokes filter has steel wire in it. Some thing like oiled foam would work a lot better. The WD Indians and Harleys ran oil bath air cleaners. Nev
