Contract Numbers

Post by simon.holyfield »

Folks,

I read recently on one of the FB groups that the club may have some information regarding the destination of various contract W/NGs past the depot receiving bikes from the factory. I'd always understood that the receiving depot was where the ability to trace a bike ran out.

Can anyone elucidate?
cheers

The club doesn't have that information but I have collated a lot of info on the contracts from various sources including Ralph Hawkins who did some research at the Imperial war museum and of course Maddon and Orchard's book. Mostly the information includes the primary destination, which is mainly Chilwell Ordnance Depot with some to Tewkesbury and an early contract to Feltham Ordnance Depot. Some contracts do state other destinations but are pretty vague such as Royal Navy, RAF, Royal Army Service Corp and French Government.
