Bounce back message.

Post by dennis.t »

Dear Admin,

You contacted me about a bounce back message in my topic in Ariel Talk: 'Registration Information'. I did not retain the bounce back e-mail but I have since had another bonce back today, 9th Jan 2023, that may be of use to you if the problem has not been resolved.

We tried to deliver your message [Christmas '22 -DT] multiple times over a few days; however, the person's destination email provider has not been reachable or has not accepted this message. We have stopped trying to deliver this message. Please check with the person you are trying to send to that they can still receive emails at this address.

Your message was not delivered within 0 days and 0 hours.
Host arielownersmcc.com is not responding.

The following recipients did not receive this message:

<webmaster@arielownersmcc.com>

In addition the following text file accompanied the message:

Reporting-MTA: dns; sa-prd-fep-040.btmx-prd.synchronoss.net
Arrival-Date: Thu, 5 Jan 2023 20:19:18 +0000
Received-From-MTA: dns; sa-prd-rgout-003.btmx-prd.synchronoss.net (10.2.38.6)

Final-Recipient: RFC822; <webmaster@arielownersmcc.com>
Action: failed
Status: 5.2.0
Remote-MTA: dns; arielownersmcc.com
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 451 Temporarily unable to process your email. Please try again later.

I hope this helps.

Thanks - that's the same as a couple of other folks have been getting. I think it confirms that we've got a problem with emails coming in from anyone using BTInternet.
I did a bit of internet research (OK, 'googling'!) and other people have had similar problems over the last few years (with btinternet accounts not being able to deliver to email accounts in google, plus.net and virgin).
I'm going to raise it with our providers but it might need attention from the BT end.

Dear Admin,

Thank you for replying.
Just so you know this is the only website email address that has given me a bounce back message. Whilst it is not inconceivable that the problem lies with BT(!) it might be worth testing at your end. I am willing to act as guinea pig for sending AOMC test message from a BT internet account.
Regards,

Thanks for the offer, but someone else inadvertently stepped into the guinea pig shoes a couple of days ago so we don't need to employ you - just yet!

We're having no problem (or none that we've been able to detect so far) with emails from any other accounts not being delivered to arielownersmcc.com, it's only emails from BTinternet.com accounts that aren't getting through.
These are being returned to the original sender (possibly after several days ) with a message about the destination email provider not being reachable
or not accepting the message.

There's a history of this same problem with BTinternet happening to other email providers over the last few years.
Plusnet (2020):
https://community.plus.net/t5/Email/Ema ... -p/1725823
Virgin Media (2021)
https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Fo ... -p/4803175
And this looks to be something extremely similar at Google, in 2022:
https://support.google.com/groups/threa ... bers?hl=en

The problem seems to sometimes magically go away although from what I can make out this is usually after BT have been contacted about it in one way or another.

However, I've raised it with our service providers.
