OBM arrived today and there is news that new Lucas 'Red Dot' ammeters are now available from Paul Goff.

Available with either 6V or 12V illumination in 8-0-8A range they are available from Paul's website:

hi i do take take things up with Drags, and i know first hand about the waiting time for backorders, i have been using drags from when they were few doors away in walthamstow from our tyre shop , and i am not having a go at drags
i am just warming the forum members they maybe in for a long wait

This is a new item that has just been manufactured by Wassells so there should not be any delay in supply and many dealers will have them.

Probably showing my ignorance - are these suitable for both +ve and -ve earth, please?

Yes, they just measure the current flowing along a wire.

You will have to swap the connections so that you get it showing a positive charge when the dynamo/alternator is charging. An easier method is to get it showing a negative when the engine isn't running and the lights are on (depending on how the bike is wired of course).

Thanks very much, Bob, I just seemed to remember that the originals could not be converted to work correctly on -ve
