ARIEL RED HUNTER REG.#DU6593
ARIEL RED HUNTER REG.#DU6593
I have just bought an Ariel red hunter NH 350.The old registration number is: DU6593.The bike was imported into Australia {victoria} If anybody reconises the rego number it would be good to get a bit of history.Otherwise I hope its comforting to know that it is in good hands.I intend to leave it with its original patina.Toby

Re: ARIEL RED HUNTER REG.#DU6593
Hi Toby,
Do you mean that the frame number is DU6593? - or the number on the rego plate?
If it's the frame number, it's UK rego number might have been RXU 431.
Apparently, (maybe?) the letters correspond to places in the UK?

G'day Brenton, that is the number painted on the rear of the bike where the number plate should be.I assumed it was the old registration number.I am only guessing the bike was imported from the UK.The engine number is: LB2377.Thanks for your reply, toby

Hi Toby,
As strange as it sounds, I saw this... http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/18215/lot/468/
Is it your bike? If so, it at least gives you a starting point.
DU is the prefix of frames made in 1955 - you'll have a number somewhere.
LB is a 1955 350 engine number prefix.
Sounds like a pair!
Also - if this is the correct bike above, then - http://www.justauto.com.au/dealer/class ... 055786eba9
This one looks to be the same one.
Very original.
I go on old farts rides with one of these - it's a great bike.
