Public thanks and field stand question
Public thanks and field stand question
Just wishing to register my thanks for the help received through this forum re details of parts needed for my 1940 W/NG restoration -
Central speedo bracket now fabricated as per factory drawing.
Tapered handlebars now just needing a final tweak to complete.
Next question is about the field stand.
I'll try to post a pic of the area in question, see if it raises any eyebrows...

Re: Public thanks and field stand question
The disc is 4" diameter.
Looks like it would be more suited to the 100 years war than World War 2.
Any thoughts as to originality?

Yes, I 've never seen one like, was the previous owner a fan of steam punk?

Could well be! Myself, I was leaning towards medieval reenactment...
No positive responses to it being original fitment by the end of this month means my oxy torch will be brought to bear...

will not slip on wet grass
Re: Public thanks and field stand question
Doubtless the intention, but maybe overkill in this instance...
Last orders gentlemen; original Ariel part or not?

Nice! but never seen one like that on a Ariel (or any other bike)
Would indeed fit in a medieval reenactment!
next to one of these;
called a 'Goedendag' in Dutch ( good day.....)

Re: Public thanks and field stand question
I'm sure I've seen a Goedendag in the tools section in my W/NG parts book, must look up the number and order one from Drags. I expect it mounts on the offside sort of opposite the field stand where it would fall to hand whilst riding...
Seriously, as I have to make a field stand which at least looks correct, what's the diameter of the disc near the end please?
