Trying to sort my dynamo out it's fully rebuilt but when I connect it to a 6vlt battery it spins the opposite way to the direction of the arrow on the body ,,is this correct

Hi Pete,
Have you tried 'flashing' it for correct polarity first ? When 'motored' on a battery the armature should spin in the same direction as it spins when fitted on the motorcycle (anti-clockwise looking at the brush/commutator end on your NH). If it doesn't and you have the correct (earth) polarity lead connected to the dynamo's body when trying to 'motor' it, try swapping the field coil wires over in the dynamo which, hopefully, will solve the problem.
All the best with it,
Keith.

Glad to hear dynamo is now working OK, I had borrowed a dynamo from a friend in case there were still problems, and spent the morning cleaning and checking it out, spinning it with a drill gave 7-8 volts, so at least I can tell him it works!
