Celebrating 90 Years on the road

Post by hristo.kiskinov »

Hi,
today I (with my family) have celebrated the 90-th birthday of my Ariel (since dispatch).
A little trip in the near mountain and then back and beer.
Some photos.
Cheers!
Hristo

Yes . They are not new any more are they? Nor were they intended to last this long. Every one is a tribute to it's owner or restorer and the people who make the parts.. "WE" get a bit used to them when we are around them and take them for granted sometimes. My first ARIEL was a 1936 RH 350 and it was ONLY 20 years old when I rode it. Nev

My first Ariel was a completely clapped-out 1953 MkI Square Four, hand-painted black all over, wiring hanging off, bits missing, and a total non-runner. Under the black paint it was a 'Coronation' model - Wedgwood Blue & White (though I didn't know what it was at that time). I paid £10 for it.

That was in 1968 . . . . . . . It was 15 years old  .

Today I run a BMW '100 GS' as an everyday bike. Its a 1988 model - its 33 years old and still runs as it should. Different attitude to motorcycles these days I guess.

Bob.
