Ariels in Adelaide

Post by brenton.roy »

Just a pic from today's ride.
Dave has owned this HS from new. He bought it while in the airforce and stationed in Germany.
The very tidy NH was originally a KH.

Hi Adrie, I'll ask him. What is the significance of the stamping?
What he has told me of the history of the bike is that he was stationed at an airforce base near the Netherlands border and he bought and rode it around there a bit.
Apparently it was a choice between the Ariel and a 69S beemer. Both would be good choices actually.. I think it's a '58.
He had it shipped back to Australia and damaged it riding scrambles. He repaired it some time ago and has ridden it fairly regularly since.
He likes to give it some welly. We had a very good ride today. It was an excellent chance for me to compare how my motor is running now, so I really appreciated his "enthusiastic" riding..
regards, Brenton

I think it are the ignitials of the factory man who took the useless sidecarluggs and rear tanksupports off the otherwise standard frame.
