W/ng rear stay
I have finally bitten the bullet and following a long discussion with 'Trevor' at Dragens den believe we identified the correct stay and lifting handle for the '42 W/ng,[ which I have purchased,] I have a rear guard and a hinged part which now mate, there are a couple of what I feel are extraneous brackets attached to the original front part which makes me think it could perhaps be from another era, these will remove easily, what I could do with a picture of the tail end showing the original mounting of the guard and the stays, if anyone could post one it would be much appreciated, Thanks
Kind regards
Kind regards

Re: W/ng rear stay
That double cranked bend is not as any original I've seen. I think your guard is a bit over to the chain side. Nev

Re: W/ng rear stay
That's an interesting picture of the lifting handle mounting, the one I have purchased has the guard bracket welded to it but the pic seems to show a separate part attached by the bracket which is on the guard, I may have to sort this out a tad by removing this piece and drilling a locating hole, at the moment the guard will have to slide between this and the lifting handle.

If it my photos of the front bracket you refer I think its an optical illusion. The bracket is just a plain 90 degree bend. The centre rib of the mudguard is inline with the centreline of the frame so all's good

Can you post a photo of what you have?RTichard Woolnough wrote:That's an interesting picture of the lifting handle mounting, the one I have purchased has the guard bracket welded to it but the pic seems to show a separate part attached by the bracket which is on the guard, I may have to sort this out a tad by removing this piece and drilling a locating hole, at the moment the guard will have to slide between this and the lifting handle.

Have you had a look on Drags site at the mudguard section. They have good photos of the W/NG mudguard (with the bracket that the lifting handle attaches to riveted to the mudguard as original) and the lifting handle/mudguard stay assembly. The Drags link is below:
