HS in Germany
Dear specialists,
this weekend I'll have a look at an offered HS. As my knowledge with this models is very limited I'll ask you for some comments.
Thanks
Markus

Re: HS in Germany
Hi Markus
Looks very correct to me.
Only odd thing is that the centre stand is mounted with the feet pointing forward.
The rear mudguard is a bit short at the back end, but original ones are impossible to find so this is probably the best option.
It has the standard road model footrests, the MkI used to have stronger footrests but those can only be fitted if you leave the centre stand off.
So this set up is o.k.
If you can send me a very clear and bright picture of the swingarm mounting lug area I can see if it is a pukka HS frame or a adapted standard frame.

Re: HS in Germany
Hello Markus,
see pic.
If the welding goes + - 3/4 around the swingarmlug, it is a original HS frame.
On a road frame the sidecar lug sits below it, also welded .
They are so close together the factory welded both lugs all around in one go.
If someone tries to fake a road frame in to a HS frame then it is almost impossible to get rid of this small bit of welding.
You have to lie on the ground to see it.
ehhhhh, yes ?
front wheel 21" WM1 and rear 19" WM3
I see this HS has new rims, they have a ever so slight 'flat' side, Dunlops are a tiny bit rounder.

Re: HS in Germany
#Vincent,
I have problems understanding this. There is plenty of space if the sidecarlug is not there so it should be easy welding the s/armlug complete and around.
On this 55VH it looks the welding of the s/armcar lug does not go around. The sidecarlug is so massive, I think it is nearly impossible removing this without any traces.
I'll let you know after the inspection.
Thanks for your input so far.
Markus

Re: HS in Germany
Forget about it ! my mistake.
Although I have no pictures (any more) I vividly remember that the welding went all around.
Not so as your picture proves.
Anyway, if all numbers tie up and dont look pampered with then it is probably o.k.
