My 1947 red hunter.

Post by wayner »

This is my 1947 red hunter which I purchased about 5 months ago.it looks to be pretty original to me and is quite tidy.last owner past away and was part of a collection of bikes he had. ive had the magdyno rebuilt and it's just been MOTed. I've not been able to ride it yet as I have not passed my test yet (lessons are under way) went to my first Ariel meet last month and met some of the gloucester members. Thanks to Geoff and John for making me feel most welcome! :D

I think it will struggle to reach the 70 mph up the gloucester bye pass they expect! I see in your photo John that there is a t25 is that yours as well?

Yup.
It just failed on it's MOT on the exhaust; £550 for a new one....

A least you can pass your 125 test and ride the ariel on the 30BHP restriction...

Is your van a diesel? I got a westy and it was cheaper to buy a stainless system than to replace with aftermarket on mine.

Is that true about the test even though it's a 350? Or is it after 2 years you can ride any cc?

the 125 restriction is a cylinder capacity AND power output.
the 33BHP limit is power output only

You may want to take a peak at the new laws from Jan 2013 (linked on that page above) as it appears that new riders cannot have over 33BHP until 24 (and there is a sort of capacity restriction on the 33BHP). Interestingly eough a 17 year old can still be out in a scooby the day he passes......

p.s. I will get a stainless system on the bus; the price difference is negligable. I've had it 5 years and don't intend to sell it anytime soon ....

This is where i got my exhaust from and is very well made and still going strong. I think it was about £450 http://www.vwspeedshop.com/product.php?productid=16733

As for the test I've already taken my mod 1 on a 500 so no turning back now unless I redo the mod 1 on a 125!
