Vokes desert filter name plate repro
Hello All,
I plan to have a batch made of the 'Tubelar Air Filter' ID plate that sits on top of the Vokes desert filter.
They will cost around 20,- GBP each and are made like the original ones by etching.
Anyone interested ?
Let me know by a PM

Interesting ..

Love one, but I'd need a volks filter first ... I can see the Indians make them but how good are they ?.
Would the company you are using make the brass REME plates too ?
or contract plates (same indian company makes something similar):

Hello John
Indian ones are printed, these will be etched.

That contract plate looks like it's been stamped, not those numbers but the whole plate.

Sorry Vincent: I'm not picking at you or anything.
I'd like to put a vokes filter on but I have never seen an original for reasonable money. One of the indian kits looks quite good but it's still expensive...

I looked at some more contract plates (well done the BSA WM20/WD forum - they're ace) and it looks like there are variations:
The indian variant here, doesn't look printed and seems reasonable, although you'd need to stamp it up yourself:

I wonder if I ordered a few, to offset the postage, whether anyone else would want one ?
i suspect there are others making them locally .. but who ?

Re: Vokes desert filter name plate repro
Oh no, dont worry, no offence!
That Indian one actually looks pretty good, and it is a lot of work to make so 160 pounds is still rather cheap….
I've been asking around how 'good' these UK replica name plates are.
As by looking at the pictures I think the etching does not have the same 'deepness' as the original ones. (yes, verrry nitpicking… )
And with a minimum order amount of 15 pieces I dont want to spend that and end up with non saleable items !
I just read on the BSA WM20 forum that there is another Dutchman who makes these census plates, I have to find out who that is yet.

is it this:

Roy van dorp ??
I posted that this morning ....
Wayne and I had a load of WNG stainless pattern bars made. Pretty good price we thought, nobody else making them but even though we only made a few sets we ended up using most on our own bikes as nobody wanted them.
