Ive ordered some tufnol sheet , think it is similar to bakelite , cant be that difficult to make . I have tried ebay and the internet with no luck . Seemingly they have the later one from 52 on but it dosent fit the earlier 49 to 51 dynamo . I have all the bits from the old one so we will see how it goes .

I asked them if it would fit and they said not . this was the reply .
I am sorry but the early and later brush plates are not compatible. The 220552 will be placed onto backorder however the lead time from our supplier is usually around 12 weeks.
There are 2 versions of this dynamo, the early one has a small spring at the commutator end with a 1/2” bore, the later version has a much larger spring, about 1” in diameter. The armature, brush plate and commutator bearing are also different.

ive made brush mounts from micarta board and from some more heat resistant board where the micarta burnt up.....the stuff isnt easy to work ,but can be bandsawed easily enough with a fine tooth blade, and cut with a holesaw....where the metal parts are rivetted ,I just attach them with nuts and bolts....Some of these mounts are very expensive ..one for a GE DC motor was $500 US from the maker.,but quality electrical stuff is generally expensive.
