Ariel Leader VIN plates

Post by alan.moore »

Noticed a couple of VIN plates for Leader for sale on Ebay. Clearly these are no use to anyone unless you have the original frames as well. It is illegal to put them on anything other than the original frame.

There is bidding on both so someone clearly has a use for them. Seller says'"Be handy for someone"

Well I suppose they would be handy if you had a stolen Leader and wanted to 'legitimise' it and then get the Ariel owners club or VMCC to inspect it so you can get an age related number. Of course Leaders don't have stamped in frame numbers so nothing other than the engine to do a double check.

May be worth bearing in mind if you are asked to examine a Leader / arrow in the future

Thanks for looking, I didn't think there was much you could do with them.
