I have just fitted the rear brake foot brake pedal and rod, the brakes go 'on' fine but the foot pedal does not come fully back to the stop pin and is very floppy and it is not fully releasing the brakes. It looks like the only thing helping to return the pedal is the brake shoe springs with no other spring to help assist it to returtn. Has other members had this problem and if so how did they sort it. (I notice on the later bikes a spring was fitted around the hub of the foot pedal lever to make it fully return)

Re: 1938 ARIEL SQUARE FOUR REAR BRAKE PEDAL LEVER
There should be a return spring around the outside of the cam spindle housing on the brake plate. Unfortunately, I had one break recently on the RH500 and found that they do not seem to be in production at present but I managed to modify a slightly different one to suit. Try both Draganfly and Singles Spares.

Nortons use a similar spring on the 30s,40s,and 50 s non fullwidth brakes ........and maybe on the f/w ones too.
