Looks like it has broken from fatigue. What model is it? The 500's are a forging but i believe they can break if they are old. Nev

I think all these cranks are a bit old, Nev.

It's the 650 crank - same as a small-journal BSA A10 crank. I've no idea what caused the break, I bought it in this state (I wanted the Mag that was still on the remaining crankcase half) but the sludge trap was solid with muck. There's a depression in it where I poked someting in to see how hard it was. It wouldn't have passed much oil!

So who wants a free right-hand-side crankcase half?

By "OLD" I mean done a lot of work. Most steel cranks eventually develop cracks and most of them are Steel. The enfield twins were SG and were ok. Not the best for out ond out power though. Nev
