W/NG Lower Chain-guard
Can anyone help with explaining the difference between a standard lower chain-guard and a W/NG lower chain-guard - 5722-40
I have a lower guard fitted but it fouls the chain at the rear. As the rear frame is lower than the standard single it may be that the W/NG guard is shorter? Draganfly show the part number but say they need a pattern.

Re: W/NG Lower Chain-guard
I have a new W/NG lower guard made by Bruce Longman. The front side is 11 5/8 long from the left side notch to the right tip. The rear side is 12 1/4" long from left end to right tip. How does that compare with a VH lower guard?

Re: W/NG Lower Chain-guard
I may have found something...
My W/NG has an alloy primary and I am not sure how the steel primary works with the chain-guard front mounting but on my mine the distance between the front chain-case tab/mount and the pillion rest tab/mount is 6 3/4 inches (bolt centre to bolt centre). On an NG 350 rigid I have looked at it is a fair bit longer. Can anyone confirm this?

Re: W/NG Lower Chain-guard
It is still an issue and I would like to understand if there is a difference but the guard has been worn away and as long as I keep the chain tight it is not causing a problem for now. The W/NG is going really well apart from that.

Re: W/NG Lower Chain-guard
My spare parts list 294/C/9387 May 1941 for the W/NG shows P/n 5722-36 which is for the alloy chain guard type. This makes it the same as all back to 1936. I found an original and it appears to fit. It has the front attach lug repaired which fits with what Paul Jameson says about them cracking. It's easy to make that lug a bit stronger. Does anyone have the later spare parts book (1944) that would cover the (later) steel primary cover situation and can it be available to members on line? Nev

Re: W/NG Lower Chain-guard
The mystery continues. The 44 list shows the later P/n as applying back to 1940. I would have thought the change would relate to the using of the steel primary chaincases. I wonder when they were introduced? I thought it was quite late in the procedings. I can check the frame length of the lower part compared to a standard rigid 40 model.. Nev
