13 months without a ride.

Post by Wali.Badger.Taylor »

Last time I rode was at Red Marley freak Hillclimb in 2011 and I was not in good shape I had broken ribs and my right hip was just about destroyed. I had to have a mate lift me onto the bike and I only rode it because people challenged the size of my balls.

Since then they have replaced my smashed up hip joint with 0.7Kg of titanium and polymers and the ribs have healed. I entered the Thundersprint but was not sure if I was up to it or really wanted to do it.
I loved every moment of Sunday including getting out of my sleeping bag at 4.30 to get into the paddock queue at 5.00. I loved the noise, the smell and the laughs. I loved being on the start line and the buzz of the control lights telling me to go and meet my destiny. I loved that I had had to rebuild my engine over the winter and time was so tight that I had not had time to test if the brakes worked before I hit the first corner (they did). My times were not as good as I wanted ( Best 28.42 when I know I can do 26) but it was fun
I am now looking forward to a season of sprinting and next year getting back into speed hillclimb.

There must be something that you can take for this ailment. Glad you're having fun. I'm going to get one of those jackets that says, "The older I get the faster I went" Nev

If it were a choice between my nads and never riding again, then it would be a very tough one to make ...

I guess at 84 he has a fair excuse for the lack of helmet. Nice bike.
Go for it Wali. We love the Badger stories.
