Patience John!
I'll do a test panel as soon as I get my "Tractol" Enamel, I should leave it for a few days to "cure" then I'll do a Petrol Test and we'll see what happens. Your idea about using a matt varnish on your Enfield has me thinking, there are some excellent water-based varnish products on the market these days, now they ought to be resistant to solvents, including petrol, worth investigating methinks
