Re: Jerry's Cammy
hi Jerry
Nice to see another cammy being built. the one thats been dug up reminds me of the one i salvaged from the bog in Edinburgh, I got a lot of useable parts from that which went to good homes. I'll have a look in my cammy box and see if there is anything i can help you with .
Good luck
Neil

Re: Jerry's Cammy
Well, collected my first chunk of cammy today from Alpha bearings and very nice they look too, compared to the state it was in.
Some of the scrap bits Alpha had replaced were certainly in a bad condition - chewed threads and corrosion.

Re: Jerry's Cammy
Picked up another piece of the jigsaw at the Netley Marsh autojumble - nice pair of the small fishtail silencers Ariel used in the 30's. Expensive but look really good.1935 cammy Square, 1938 VB, brace of 1950 MkI Squares, 1959 MkII Square and several Ariel and Fleet pushbikes.

Re: Jerry's Cammy
Jerry, are those fishtails for cammy from Vintage Replica the correct item for '35/36?

Re: Jerry's Cammy
Richard, Hope so. Either these with the fixed fishtail or the type with the removable fishtail, but I think that was earlier. The people who make the silencers were absolutely adamant that the fixed type are correct, although the parts books show the separate fishtail. I think I prefer the fixed fishtail anyway, there are enough joins in the exhaust system with the balance pipe and everything. Need to make mounting brackets and get them welded on before chrome plating but can't do that until I can get the exhaust assemble onto the bike to get the fit right.
