From Land’s End to John o’ Groats and some more…

We could not have done the 2003 run without the support of Ralph Hawkins (he found 4 petrolstations still in busines onder the same name), Sonja Huls, Willem Mannesse, José my wife, Yvonne Dekker and Nico Glas (fotographs).

Rob, Ben and Jenny are on theire journy to Lands End, Fred and Paul are picked up along the way.

The weather forecast has given them a dry first day.

John Bradshaw, Paul Jameson and I met up with the intrepid travellers at Leominster on Sunday evening. We had a curry and went for a pint or two afterwards. I believe the Cornish branch were very accomodating, even aquiring a new front tyre for Fred. The only other problem was a broken clutch cable, for which they had a spare, but with a BA box you lose the adjuster and ball bearing... We wish them well for the remainder of the journey. They chose April because of the prospect of fine weather. Obviously the old English saying "April showers" hasn't reached the Netherlands. I can't praise these folks, and Adrie before them, too highly for what they are doing. Brilliant!

On behalf of the ‘Lands End to John o Groats’ crew I want to thank you all for support during our tour!
Unfortunately we where unable to respond to all questions and request placed on Facebook as we had a very restricted access to the Internet and also a very tight riding schedule.

A special thanks from us all goes to Kim and David Hedges for there hospitality during our first overnight stay in England at there residence. Also a warm thank you to the Cornish Branch who where so kind (Phil Moore!) to supply us a new front tyre. They escorted us for quite a few miles. Jolly good! Furthermore thanks to John Bradshaw, Paul Jameson and Dave Pitt who visited us at Leominster. We have had a very entertaining evening with them in the Indian restaurant (good curries!) and later on of course a couple of pints in the local pub, cheers to you guys!

Last but not least: Thank you John Nash for making this toppic ‘sticky’…

I will try to do an article for the may issue of the Cheval about our 2600 mile trip.
