Fuel Tank Repair
I have a leaking fuel tank. I've tried to Araldite it and that held for several years until this weekend. Now its leaking again and I need it welding.
Can anyone recommend a company or person who could do this for me?
I'm in Wiltshire, UK.

Solder wouldn't be any good Brenton. Its on a seam near mounting points so needs welding unfortunately.
I'm also spending a whole lot of time in Norfolk at the moment so if anyone knows a welder out that way I could bring the tank out with me....

When I did my Norton the tineware was in quite a state and I gave it to Metal Magic and it came back looking like new so a tank puncture would be a doddle for them. They are in Berkshire so not far from you. I don't have any details with me (in HK right now) but they used to advertise in OBM.

Re: Fuel Tank Repair
Tony
I have oxy welded many petrol tanks for both for myself as well as for others as it is difficult to find some one to weld a petrol tank. In most cases I have had to cut the bottom out to beat out dents, but I have also had to weld up the top seams on my 57 VH tank as well as remove the knee pad plates to repair rust holes. To make the tank safe to weld I used to wash out the tank with soapy water for an hour or so and then fill the tank with exhaust gas (carbon monoxide) from a warm engine while welding. It is also completely safe to weld a tank after steam cleaning and as I have a steam cleaner near by I now have the tanks steam cleaned. If you have the tank steam cleaned first it will remove all vapours and smell and it will probably be a lot easier to find a panel beater who is prepared to weld it.

Just thinking.
There is a guy in Norwich, Alex at Matchless engineering (his number is in my blog), or there is Phil Pearson, the.Gold Star guy who is in Belton, which is almost a suburb of Yarmouth.
