Valve guide/stem lubricant

Hello all,
I have just put in a new exhaust valve guide on my 57 VH and during my searches around the web I have seen some references to specific lubricant for putting on your valve stem prior to reassembly, Briggs & Stratton being a name that has been mentioned.
I have always just dipped the stem in a bit of straight 30 monograde before. Have I been doing something stupid? If so, where can I get hold of this stuff (or an equivalent) as the Briggs & Stratton valve stem lubricant appears to be only available from the US of A. Any advice gratefully received.

Hi Carl,
Others may know better, but I think you may be talking abut moly grease. This is used on cam lobes etc. - when building motors, for the first start up.
You don't need much. A small tube will last a long time.
You can get it at an automotive store.
As for whether it's better than oil, who knows! - I think it's more likely to be there if you leave the motor for a while before starting and it will stop some initial wear.
