Camshaft re-profiling & follower repair:

Post by Bob.Murphy »

The cams, followers & half-compression mechanism on my 1930 Panther M50 motor are badly worn.

Does anyone have a recommendation for someone who can build them up and re-profile them.

I assume that 'Case Hardening' would be required as well.

I can't get replacements through the Panther Owners' Club spares scheme - hence the quest ;) .

The later ones are wider. They MAY be able to be modified to fit and don't wear as much (being wider) Nev.

I thought I'd update this thread . . .

I finally got the Panther cams re-profiled and the followers built-up and re-profiled by Newman Cams at Farnborough:

They did a good job and were pleasant to deal with.

Cost, including postage and 20% VAT came to £150.00 (nothing is cheap in the restoration game ;) ).

I'd use them again.
