Solex Fun
Folks, I need a bit of help with my new baby, a 51 Square Four.
The carburrettor has a bent piece of wire to operate the bi-starter. I thought there was a brass knob? Does anyone have a close up picture they could post?

That's perfect! thank you very much. Now I need to find those parts...
In response to John, no I haven't seen those articles yet. I've had my Squariel for a little over two weeks & I've only just applied for AOMCC memebership, so I don't have my login details yet.
But once again, many thanks for the great response!

Jim, I'll certainly try David, thanks.
Brenton, another cheeky question? The ignition switch under the seat? Can you tell me how it is fixed and how the bracket is finished?
I'm trying to piece a bike together from a bag of bolts...

Yep, no problem - but I don't have the original bracket..
This is a bit of stainless plate, drilled for the switch and to fit through the big nut on the top sidecar lug.
I have another '51 in bits (so know how you feel) - and can go looking for an original part, but if anyone else can take a photo and post it, we'll both know what to look for!
Where are you up to with the bike?

Maybe we can help each other then Brenton. I've got what looks like an original bracket, though it is covered with nasty green paint, so I can post a picture when I get home.
My problem is I don't have the bolt that fixes it - though I do have a mystery sidecar lug????
The bike is my 50th birthday present (though I'm 49 next week!). Currently I'm exploring the smaller parts, identifying missing & broken bits. It's all original though and in pretty good shape.

That would be great.
The mystery sidecar lug is filled a 5/16" stud with two large stepped nuts. The large hole in the switch bracket sits inside the step of the nut. It would be about the same diameter as the sidecar lug?
