E3L Dynamo, Huntmaster FH : which way should it "Motor"?

Post by Glyn.Ford »

Hi all.

I have an E3L dynamo on my bench. When I connect the D+F together to the - terminal on battery, and the case the the + terminal, it happily rotates (motors) anti clockwise as shown by the arrow on the case.

However when I put it in my bike, the engine turns the dynamo in the opposite direction.

Does it need to be changed so it "motors" in the same rotation as the engine?

Coil is giving 3.3ohm, so I think it's ok. Adjacent commutator surfaces are all 0.5 ohm, and none of them show any connection to the shaft.

Thanks.

Thanks Adrie. I'll swap the coil wires over, so it Motors in the same direction as the engine.
