dented tank
Coming back from a show this weekend and my friends bike came loose and the bars dented the Ariel tank. So I'll be needing another. Any thoughts on the repro tanks from India? Also, will a tank for aVB 350 fit on my VG 500? It looks very similar. Thanks all
Lets hope well all get to heaven before the devil knows were dead!!

Find a good metalworker, he will open up the bottum and take the dent out.

Re: dented tank
Probably good advice. I sent two emails. Both responded with " would you please send measurements?" What? You don't know? I don't know how I'm gonna get this dent out of my tank now

People who know how to repair tanks have no trouble with dents as long as there is no rust. (which is a more complex problem). Cutting hoes in the bottom has to be done to plate them here as they won't sink in the pickling and plating tanks otherwise.. A good repair will be good enough to rechrome. Nev

Hi Ocho,
Following Adrie's and others advice - it might be possible to use a paintless dent remover - who can either get in through the petrol filler and knock the dent out, or get in via a hole cut in the bottom of the tank - or glue and pull from the outside!
This might save the chrome.
I have had a dent knocked out of my car - I was amazed at how good a job was done - but don't know whether it can be done on an older bike. The older steel might not be right.
Anyone have any experience with this method?

Im gonna try a few options I've seen on you tube. One of which is a blood pressure cuff, stuffed into the filler tube and inflated. If that doesn't work, then I'll need another tank. Does anyone here know of a tank available?

two possible options..
first , you can get a bodywork puller that glues onto the dent and a slide hammer to pull out,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-BODY-PANE ... 2191wt_952
second wash the tank thoroughly, bung up the holes and make a adaptor to blow compressed air into the tank. heat the dented area locally and it might pop out.
you dont say if its a dent or a crease and where?
