Hi All
Does anyone know the whereabouts of this bike.
I think it was my Dad's, that's him in the pic.
Regards
Andy

Hi Andy,
I hope you can find information about the bike.
Thanks for posting the photo. It gives clues about how period bikes were set up.
I think it is a 1946 model 4G. The sales info doesn't show telescopic forks until 1947, so maybe it was made later in the model year.

I think it's 1939, the Girder replaced for telescopic in 1947?, the reason? not many had the mony to buy a square directly after the war.
Looking at the mod's, the picture could have been made much later.

Yes, it could have been '39. The tail light is only in the 39 and 46 brochures.
The anstey rear suspension would have been brand new in '39. The front end had a bit more chrome after 1948, so the one on your dad's is likely just post war. As Adrie says, It could have been added - but either way, it is period.

Thanks for the replies, that's great.
That picture would have been taken in London around mid to late 40's, maybe early 50's
Cheers
