generator wiring

Post by brenton.roy »

Can anyone help with a photo, diagram or clear description of where the four wires attach inside the end cap of the generator.
Thanks in advance, Brenton

you can change rotation by changing the brushes over, in their holders, or by swapping over the wires from the field

Thanks Eero, John.
It seems the wiring is OK.
I can get it to make a small voltage (maybe .1v) spinning by hand.
I did get more for a short while, but it's not holding its magnetism.
I've tried bridging F and D and to -ve of battery.
Bugger.

Motor it by connecting F&D together and then to a battery positive (12v one is fine). negative battery terminal goes to the body of the dynamo (I use jump leads)
That will give it enough magnetism to go and confirm direction of rotation.
If it doesn't spin then something serious is up.

If it does spin, get a drill onto the end of the armature and spin it the same direction while measuring the output
