If I find my self passing your part of the world I'll let you know.

No I haven't yet, my other vh is for sale and has the only silencer I have on that one so can't until I get a replacement. Will let you know how good it is when I can get out though.

My LED headlight globe arrived this week.
Good news on a couple of fronts. 1. It fits in a 6.5" headlight and 2. It runs nicely on 6v.
According to the packaging, it uses 12w on low and 18w on high and operates from 6v to 36v.
I have a 'made in India' reflector that takes the later '51 on bulbs. I needed to do a little work to make one of the supplied adapters fit - grind the adapter to shape and add a washer - about 20 minutes.
I will try 12v, but it looks like it will be fine with my 6v system.
It's bright for daytime, and hopefully will be like Steve's at night.
Au $28 inc postage
Edited..
I hooked the headlight up to a 12v battery, and it made a bigger difference than I expected.
It's a reasonable light with 6v, a really good light at 12v. Very impressive.

I've just been out for my first night ride since installing the hid, and WOW, it is incredible, it has full and dip beam but doesn't really need the full beam unless you are in a really dark back road, some of the best money I've spent on the bike. I would seriously recommend the conversion!

Re:
I've just fitted a LED Headlight to my cyclone which has the shallow headlight bowl, it didn't fit at first but I just elongated the hole for the top screw and it just went on.keith.mettam wrote:Hi Steven,
Does the set up you now have fit into the correct shallow headlamp shell fitted to the late Ariel four strokes or have you a different headlight bowl ? I ask the question as in your picture of the headlamp it seems to extend some way back from the rear of the reflector.
Regards,
Keith.

News from the LED front.
After very good results with the one Steve Carter recommended I've ordered a second batch of 3 for other Ariels.
THE NEW ONES DOES NOT WORK WITH 6 VOLTS, as the first one did.
They start shining from 8 Volts onwards but as good as the first one at 12Volts.

Re: Cibie 12v headlight
This happens if a german engineer gets unknown things in his hands.
The red and grey devices from the first batch showing a usable brightness at 6 Volts, the others starting at 8Volts.
Thanks to Michi
