I bought a Paul Goff one. I made up a mounting plate for the fork top nut. The idea was to use it until I had confidence in the charging system, then remove it. It helped me work out that I had a voltage regulation problem. The volt meter was installed after, as a diagnostic, because the led kept flashing at me. I think I prefer the voltmeter.

Ah! That's a useful trick. Will try it out.

Yes, like Adrian, I prefer a digital voltmeter. Got one on my old (dare I say it !) 1965 Honda which has proved useful. Bought it off ebay from one of the uk based firms that do camping van/caravan supplies. Be careful if you are thinking of buying from ebay as there are loads of very cheap foreign suppliers with low ratings. All the best, Keith.

HI ALL I will look in to see if they do a 6V one , the volt meters i have got only do 12V or 24V and they are not digital, and do you leave it on all the time or does it go off wen you turn the bike off :?:

Mine is on a Sq4, wired in circuit after the ignition key. So it is only on when the ignition is on. Not sure what you would do on a magneto bike, probably just pull one spade off the back of the meter when not in use. I bought a very cheap ebay one, not expecting it to last, just long enough to be confident in the electrics then remove it.

Less stylish, but useful and cheap.
Fit a 3 Digit Led Voltage display into the battery top.
A push button to check Voltage.
Here 6.62 because of LiFePo4 cells.

That is the style I use as well and with a small press switch located in an unobtrusive spot it can be quite handy. Had not thought of mounting in the dummy battery case, not a bad alternative.

I've done the same on my square 4 with an on off switch so it can be monitored whilst running. Really useful and only cost a few pounds. A must with so much reliance on a 6 volt battery feeding four cylinders.

Coming back to this Gammatronix battery monitor, do we know if it retains the settings after reconnecting the battery?
cheers

hi Simes if it turns off wen you turn off the power to it and comes back on with the setting wen you turn it back on then it must have sum sort of battery backup like a lot of car radios have but the ones i use just check the volts
