Ariel font...

Post by john.bebb »

Hi Folks - I've spent countless hours transcribing the "Square Four" logo was is cast in the timing chest (from 1949 onward)
into a single curved line for a front numberplate blade. - such script is NOT a font hence most of the "CAD" was performed manually...
So please; - does anyone have a ttf of "Stratison 31 Extrude Black" font they could let me have? -
such is the closest I can indentify to the tank badge logo of the era and I really have no wish do a repeat of a bitmap extraction...!!!
Cheers, John

Hi John – can’t help with that specific font, but have you tried ‘WhatTheFont’? “Instant font identification powered by the world’s largest collection of fonts”. May produce a very close or even better alternative…

A quick try with some ARIEL lettering off the homepage produced this example:

Well… I was hoping that might have been useful – but perhaps not…

Hi Peoples - ok (RG) - sure - I was not "listening" as too involved with bitmap transforms...
latest proof herewith; - to be discussed with painter to ascertain fiducials for the stencils

The "Square Four" and legends below are on curves centered to the axle &
the "ARIEL" logo is parallel to the blade flat.

The apparent stepping on lines is solely a limitation of the .png rendering.

NB - this is NOT to the Drags "std" blade as such does not fit my gaurd...
afaic the Drags item has an incorrect curvature & misaligned mounting holes.

Cheers, John
